Food Producers Look to Africa to Feed Globe’s Growing Population
Producers are looking to Africa to feed a growing global population as land and water constraints curb the scope for raising output in other regions, the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association said.
“The world depends upon Africa becoming a part of the food production system of the world for us be able to feed 9 or 10 billion people that are going to be out there by 2050,”

Nestlé expects ‘major growth’ in Kenya when oil starts flowing
Nestlé Kenya Managing Director Svetlana Obruchkova says the purchasing power of consumers in the East African country is set to rise and push the sales of branded goods.
“There are affluent people and the middle class is growing but it is still not growing at the extent we would like. We strongly believe that this growth will come when the oil and gas is developed and a wider part of the population will get better incomes. The potential is really great… and we expect major growth to come in the next five years.”

Kenya: Cooperatives to Boost Fish Farming, Food Security - Agriculture Chief
The Mombasa county government will promote aquaculture to boost food production. Agriculture executive Anthony Njaramba said there will be five ponds and a cold storage facility in each of the 30 wards in the county.
"We want ensure all residents have enough to eat and surplus to sell," said Njaramba during an interview in Mombasa town on Saturday.
He said fishing can be done in spaces available in private homes and compounds.

China to help Kenya boost food production
The Chinese Government has pledged to support Kenya in food production.
Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang said his Government will assist in seed production and irrigation.
He spoke when he met Deputy President William Ruto at his Harambee House Annex office.
“We believe that what should not happen to us should not happen to another person. Hunger is not good that’s why we will assist you improve food production,” Keqiang said.
He said Chinese companies will invest in agriculture technology in Kenya.
