Electricity distributor Kenya Power is negotiating a Sh29.3 billion loan from the Chinese government to finance the conversion of its overhead cables to underground lines in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa.

Kenya’s Vision 2030 to support East African Power Industry Convention

The annual East African Power Industry Convention (EAPIC) has secured the support of Kenya’s Vision 2030.  The organisers of EAPIC, the Cape Town-based events company Spintelligent, met with the Vision 2030 directorate in Nairobi recently.

Kenya Power to Upgrade Pre-Paid Billing

Kenya Power has announced plans to upgrade its pre-paid billing system to reduce the continued technical hitches experienced by consumers.
Most of the customers have complained of occasional failure even after loading credit into the pre-paid meters, while others have often complained of being unable to load credits onto the meter.
AfDB Approves New Funds for Ethiopia-Kenya Power Project

Addis Ababa – The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a loan agreement amounting US$115 million to finance the construction of a cross-border electricity highway running between Ethiopia and Kenya.
