Centum plans to construct exclusive city in Kilifi County, Kenya
The construction of an exclusive city in Kilifi County at the Kenyan Coast is set to commence; this is according to NSE-listed investment company, Centum which is the company behind the mega project. The city will sit on a 9,500 acre piece of land.
Centum has already begun on preparations for the construction and through this advancement they will have extended their entry into the high-end real estate development.
Regulatory filings illustrate that the project which is dubbed the economic hub will be developed in phases. The first phase will see the construction of an infrastructure on 900 acres of the land and is expected to cost US$ 8m. The 900 acres has been divided and it includes residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational, and public zones.

Meru County Looking for Sh1.6 Billion to Build an 18-Storey Tower
Meru County Investment and Development Corporation (MCIDC) is seeking to raise Sh1.6 billion to build an 18 storey multi-use commercial building in the town.
The building, dubbed Meru Rising Tower, is projected to cost Sh2.5 billion if financed with 30 per cent debt.
The building, which will sit on a one-acre plot ainAngaine Estate, will comprise three floors for retail services, 15 floors of office space and a mezzanine floor for meeting rooms, each with a capacity of up to 250 people.

construction of major highway at Kenya’s Coastline to Start
Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has confirmed that the construction of a major highway at Kenya’s Coast is set to begin later this year. The Garsen-Witu-Lamu road in Kenya is expected to boost business and economic growth in the area once complete.
KeNHA made an official announcement stating that the paving of the road will begin following the advertisement of the tender in the daily newspapers. The successful contractor will be expected to sign a fixed price contract with the road agency so as to ensure that detailed designs and construction works are being provided.

Construction work on Konza technology City in Kenya to start in March
The groundbreaking of the US$ 12m Konza Technology City in Kenya will finally begin in March this year months after stalling allowing the development of the mega project to kick off.
Konza Technology City Development Authority (KoTDA) CEO Eng John Tanui confirmed the reports and said that the first phase comprising of 21 parcels of land on 60 acres is ready for investment starting this year.
“We will be doing the groundbreaking of the US$ 12m mixed use facility to host our offices, commercial and residential units in March this year as well as putting up the first schools,” said Eng Tanui. “In addition to this, we are completing the design for the provision of utilities including waste water management, street lighting, water, power and Internet systems to ensure that these are laid out in the right way before construction of the same begins in the next financial year,” he said.
