Kenya Hosts Global Agriculture Conference
Kenya is hosting an international conference focusing on digital financial services for agriculture, organisers said yesterday.
The conference, that opens today through to Friday, is organised by Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) in partnership with the Central Bank of Kenya and African Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (Afraca).
"The conference will bring together more than 600 leading decision-makers and financiers from public and private organisations across Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP)," said a statement issued in Nairobi on Sunday.
Ecobank Group to strengthen Kenyan subsidiary
Togolese-based Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) has announced plans to revamp its operations in Kenya by injecting fresh capital. The idea is to make Ecobank Kenya, the group’s hub in the East Africa region. This comes at a time when Ecobank Kenya, is gaining its foothold in Kenya after acquiring the former East African Building Society (EABS).
Kenya: Kisumu to Invest in Agriculture
The Kisumu county government plans to invest in farm inputs and educating farmers on modern agriculture methods and technologies.
Agriculture executive Stephen Orot yesterday said this will enhance food security in the county.
He said they will improve provision of certified seeds, extension services and irrigation to boost the quality of agriculture products and increase yields.
Kenya ranks high in attracting foreign direct investment

Kenya ranks among the leading Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) destinations in Africa, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Secretary General Mukhisa Kituyi has said.
Dr Kituyi said Nigeria and Ethiopia complete the list of the most attractive investments destinations for foreign capital on the continent.
