National Housing Corporation enters low-income market

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) has shifted its focus to build smaller houses, costing Sh2 million, as the state-owned firm targets low-income earners.
According to the NHC Managing Director Peter Njuguna, the corporation will next year build 11,000 houses along Nairobi’s Thika Road and in Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret that will include one bedroom apartments –  a departure from the usual three to four-bedroom units in upmarket areas.

The World Bank is to spent more than Sh1 billion to expand water supply programmes in Eldoret and its environs.
Eldoret Mayor William Rono says the Chebara Water Dam in Marakwet which supplies water to the town will be expanded through the World Bank funded initiative.
“Eldoret is a major investment herb and we want to put in place adequate water supply so that residents and investors feel comfortableâ€Â, he said

Keroche Breweries has embarked on a Sh2.5 billion expansion of its Naivasha brewery. This is party of the company’s plans to boost its market share to 24 per cent by 2014.
The ultra-modern plant, which is expected to be ready next December, will increase the firm’s production capacity to 600,000 from the current 60,000 daily.
