Major partnership enhances power provision in Kenya

GENERAL Electric has announced a partnership with Kipeto Energy Limited to build a new wind farm in Kenya’s Kajiado County.
The local power deal caps off a successful run of more than $2,5 billion in booked orders on the Africa continent across transport, aviation, healthcare and energy sectors.
The Kipeto project, announced during United States President Barack Obama’s visit to Kenya, is expected to make a significant contribution to the installed energy capacity in Kenya, where up to 80 percent of the population currently lacks electricity access.
Tullow to start Kenya oil production by 2020

Tullow Oil has announced it expects to produce oil for the first time in Kenya by 2020.
The announcement, made through its 2015 half-year report, puts to rest speculation that had earlier suggested Kenya would start producing oil by 2017.
In the report released on Wednesday (today), the multinational oil exploration company says a sanction decision for oil production is expected by the end of 2016, and the first production will happen “approximately three and a half years post project sanction”.
Kenyan dairy farm project set up by Italian investors

Italian firm Sace-Servizi Internazionali together with nine specialists in the beef and dairy value chain, is investing US$20mn in a model dairy farm at MoiUniversity in Eldoret, Kenya
The proposed model farm will manufacture yoghurt, butter and powdered milk, as well as have a feed chamber.
Upon completion later this year, the farm aims to produce more than 25,000 litres of milk daily from 1,000 high-yielding pedigree cows and generate around €3mn annually in revenues.
Already, MoiUniversity, located in the agricultural-rich North Rift region, has donated 300 acres of land for the project. The Italians are expected to transfer their expertise in dairy farming to the project.
SkyPower Signs US $2.2 Billion Agreement to Develop and Build 1 GW of Solar Energy Projects in Kenya
